How to Prep Your Garage for a Floor Coating Install

A great floor starts before we open a bucket. Here's how to get install day to go smoothly.

Good news: prepping for your install is easy, and we do the heavy lifting. Here's the short checklist so everything runs smoothly on the day.

Before we arrive

  • Clear the floor as much as you can — we're happy to help move heavier items on the day.
  • Move anything stored low on the walls away from the floor edges.
  • Make sure we have access to the garage and a working power outlet.
  • Plan for the vehicles to be parked elsewhere for install day and the cure time after.

What we handle

You don't need to scrub or clean the concrete — our diamond grinding removes surface dirt, old coatings and contamination as part of prep. We also fill cracks, pits and control joints so the coating bonds mechanically and stays put. This step is the whole ballgame, and we never rush it.

After the install

Most floors take light foot traffic the same evening. With a polyaspartic system you can usually park vehicles back the next day; other systems may need a little longer. Avoid dragging heavy or sharp items across a fresh floor for the first few days and you're set for years.
